Scanning Accucacy

- Maintaining 100% accuracy on shelf pricing in comparison to the computer price of any individual product takes overwhelming discipline. When the State's Measurement Standards Branch of the State of Hawaii inspects a retail establishment, they obviously can't check the entire product line. They use a formular, and when a store has zero errors, they are considered to have 100% accuracy. Because supermarkets generally have more than 10,000 items for sale with price changes occurring daily, and because audits do not check all items, this is no guarantee that each store has total accuracy, or that they will maintain such standing. What it does mean is that the store is doing everything within their power to assure consumers have the highest level of accuracy possible, given variables, and employee errors. They are to be commended for their efforts toward accuracy.
